Ex-pat could be either a person coming to India (Inbounds) or a person going out of India (outbounds)
Expat employee coming to India could be either a foreign citizen or Indian settled abroad (NRI’s)
While in India the person could be either:
Ø Employee of foreign company: Deputed to P.E. or project in India or for rendering service to Indian entity
Ø Employee of company formed in India: Indian company may even be Wholly Owned subsidiary (WOS) or Joint Venture Company
